ABOUT ADOPTION FROM WINTERFROST FARM

At Winterfrost Farm, we do not believe in listing a horse for adoption until the horse is healthy and ready for a new home. Sheila, Reagan and many of our highly experienced volunteers invest months (and sometimes years) into treating health conditions,
re-starting, training and desensitizing our rescues. We invest this time into each rescue horse to increase their adoptability and chances of succeeding in their forever home.

When adopting out a horse our goals are*:
           1. To make sure that the horse being considered is a good match for the individual
           2. To ensure that the individual considering adoption is fully aware of the cost and maintenance of horse ownernship
           3. To verify that the location where the adopted horse will be living provides adequate food, water, shelter and interaction

Things you can expect when inquiring about adoption*:
           1. To be contacted by our adoption coordinator to assess what you are looking for in a horse
           2. To fill out a detailed application intended to provide our board of directors with enough information

* Please note that the above is intended to provide a general overview, but is not inclusive of the full process as every adoption inquiry is unique.

adoptable horses

Our rescue has many horses currently available for adoption and looking for a forever home. We try our best to post all of our available horses to the website; however, we still have numerous horses at the farm which have not been listed yet.

The horses that are currently available are categorized as Spirited, Bombproof, or Companion Horses based on a variety of factors including  their age, temperament, skill set and versatility, and the type of rider best suited for the horse. Please visit each of the category pages for more specific information about the category and horses listed under each category.
